I only tried on Linux.I can't help it, Penguins are just so darned cute.
Just like little butlers - with a fish fixation.
I think the description of 'how to' in the INSTALL should hold for
Windows. It only relies on Jam to put everything togethor. There are
other dependancies - pax, kerberos, xerces; but I believe these all have
Windows versions.
Well this ties in nicely with my MinGW experiment. I am now pretty sure I
misunderstood a claim that was made for MinGW. The claim was that MinGW
binaries could be linked with Microsoft binaries. What I now think that
means is that MinGW includes a compatibility layer that allows binaries
created using gcc to use the MS versions of specified standard C libraries,
but *not* arbitrary binaries generated by MS compilers. (I assume the
Windows version of Ingres was built using MS compilers.)
So, the next step will be to try compiling libingres.lib using MinGW and see
how far I get. Nothing to it.... ;-)
