(There have been other changes, but that's one
I remember running into in real life.)
A supplementary question if I may? For most of its history DM420 would
report the number of group read I/Os in the field labelled GREADS. Then at
some recent time some eager beaver
That would have been Jon... :-)
changed it to report the number of
*pages* read by group read I/Os but left the label as GREADS. I then heard
a rumour that it was to changed back to count I/Os again, though I've no
idea if that's been done.
I don't know about versions, but the change date is Jan 24, 2005.
That's when it was reverted to counting I/O's. (By the way, the
overall summary for the page size counts I/O's. The GREADS by
page type -- data, leaf, etc -- still counts pages! So you can
kinda sorta get both now. Two separate counters might be the thing
to do, eventually.)
I think the original change was done for 2.6, but I can't find a
specific reference to it in the edit history so I am guessing there.
Given the change date, I'd guess that the reversion is almost
certainly in Ingres 2006, and it may well have shown up in 3.0.3,
possibly even 3.0.2.
