Hi Karl,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I had a bit of a look through the documentation and from what I read it says
that parallel processing is also controlled in cbf through the "opf_pq_dop"
and a value greater than one means it is on.
I only just installed Ingres and the default was 8 for this parameter. I
might just reset to 0 just for the hell of it to see what happens. I am
working on a new server that I have all to myself so I can go a little crazy :

You don't need to worry, but it does indicate a potential problem with
the greedy optimizer heuristic, and probably should be reported.
The optimizer falls back to the standard enumeration, so your queries
will continue to run. They'll waste a little extra time in the
optimizer, not much.
It has nothing to do with parallel query processing, which is off
by default. (You have to ask for it with "set parallel".)
