Anyway, as far as I know, the only way a level 1 can be applied is if
there was a level 0 immediately preceeding.
We moved Informix to new hardware last year and used HDR to handle the
data migration. Wasn't "no downtime", but the total downtime was very
minimal . . . .
Not sure if you could do that with 7.30, though.

How are you preserving your logical logs? The simplest way is to
restore your level 0 archive followed by rolling forward the logs to
bring you up to the current point in time. Of course you need to have
the same version of IDS (7.30) running on similar hardware and O/S.
You can then run through an upgrade path to (I think) 7.31 then 10.0.
This may not give you the most efficient final database afetr all the
structure changes. Can you get no downtime at all (not even 22:00 on
Saturday night for 8 hours !!). An unload to text files followed by
reload to a new instance (IDS 10 ?) would be by far the best way
forward. How large is your database?
