In $INFORMIXDIR/etc are files that end in cr. cat *cr should get you
the version, along with dbaccess -V or dbexport -V

SE I think is currently 7.25 and is still there. You should be able to
go to IDS, depending upon what is in your code. We are IDS only now,
but in the past have been mixed SE and IDS.

We currently have an old version of SE, 7.1 (date on the files is
1995, is there a way to pull the actual version number, the release
directory files don't seem to have it). We are running applications
on 4gl RDS 6.03.UC1. I seem to have been successful in beating the
holders of the purse strings to agree the risk is too great in running
it even if we run it only to migrate. And we can update the system
cheaper without migrating to a new db.

So I would like to get some advise from people other than IBM sales.
Is the process of moving from SE to IDS ugly? It looks like IBM is
building a new version of IDS, how about SE, or is that dead yet? Do
I want to update the I4GL or is there a better choice, like Aubit (I
haven't had any luck getting it built and running on windows, I was
going to try the linux build), FourJs, Querix?

We would like to migrate our 4GL to a GUI or Web environment. What are
some of the better options there?
