rhead? Is that read ahead? Have you tried setting these to some value?
rhead is the main control block in shared memory. It stands for RSAM Head.
.
e.g.
# Read Ahead Variables
RA_PAGES 16 # Number of pages to attempt to read ahead
RA_THRESHOLD 8 # Number of pages left before next group

Subject: oninit startup failure
Hello all,
I am getting mad with a problem on which I already spent 3 days, and it
would be nice to give me a clue to solve it:
I am trying to start IDS v10 on Windows XP Pro SP2, but the "Informix
server - ol_xxx" service begins to start, then aborts after a short time.
I reproduced the problem on a command prompt, with oninit -sv, and I can
see that the server fails when initializing the rhead structure:
Checking group membership to determine server run mode...succeeded
Reading configuration file
'C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\Informix/etc/ONCONFIG.ol_dl49'...succeeded
Creating INFXTMP/.infxdirs...succeeded
Creating infos file
"C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\Informix/etc/.infos.ol_dl49"...succeeded
Linking conf file "C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\Informix/etc/.conf.ol_dl49"...succeeded
Writing to infos file...succeeded
Checking config parameters...succeeded
Allocating and attaching to shared memory...succeeded
Creating resident pool 868 kbytes...succeeded
Allocating 20384 kbytes for buffer pool of 4K page size...succeeded
Initializing rhead structure...FAILED
oninit: Fatal error in shared memory creation
In the server instance log file (INFORMIXDIR\ol_xxx.log), I get:
vp_create: cannot initialize semaphore
Any idea to help me to understand what the problem is ?
Thanks in advance,
MFLD

# When dynamic logging is on, we can have higher values for LTXHWM/LTXEHWM,

# However, to limit the number of new logical logs being added,
LTXHWM/LTXEHWM
# can be set to smaller values.
#
# If dynamic logging is off, LTXHWM/LTXEHWM need to be set to smaller values

logical
# log space, i.e. 50/60 or lower.

# In case of system configured with CDR, the difference between LTXHWM and
