"main" installer, you need to pick the one in the iif directory.

Thanks, that was the solution. The setup.exe from the iif directory installs
IDS on Windows Vista successfull.

Also, from what I've seen/read, it seems that Vista has a new version of
NTFS... I have not tried anything like that though...

Is there a legal way to evaluate Vista?

You have to participate to a Microsoft partner program like EMPOWER or MAPS.
Or you need a MSDN account.

We tried it: But the installation script stopsimmediately with fatal
error.
