I'm surprised that ISM let you do a -init when it was already set up, and even more surprised that there was anything out there after you did it.I want to do an imported restore to a system that has had ISM on it in the past. Even when I do ism_startup -init I find that all devices, policies etc are still available. I am wondering how much of the $INFORMIXDIR/ism directory I need to wipe to get rid of that information. Any ideas?

That being said, ISM is so limited, at least in the number of devices, that I believe the quickest way to get started would be to remove /nsr (which is the pointer to the repository), do another "ism_startup -init", re-input your administrators and devices, and do your restore.
This would wipe out (pronounced "clean up") all the previous volume and save set information, which would probably be useless after you do the restore anyway.
