I tried to recreate this, but didn't get any wrong results.

Simple database with one field.
Display as table
put in some values
sort on the value
go to a record somewhere in the middle
cut the value and tab out of the field
Nothing happened

Did I understand you correctly?

I HATE it, especially when switching to layout mode.

What I even hate more is the instant resort. You cut the contents from
one cell, paste it to another one and took the wrong record instead,
since the table was resorted in between...
