Re: Web publishing question

Two issues...

1) In order to publish and be available, the DB MUST be up and running.

2) Since your address indicates you're using a router, you must configure
your router to allow access to the 192.168.0.100 IP address. FM Web
Databases use port 80, FM applications use port 5003.

You can ascertain your real IP address by going to www.printmyip.com (or
other tools). It will show the real IP address of your home network. e.g.
54.15.25.108 this is what you enter into the URL.

AND you may configure a HOME page to help your visitors more easily navigate
the web site. This is done in the Filemaker folder/Web. FM is at that
point a basic http server and will execute many web functions (not ASP or
SSI).

You can configure WEB visitors to have only guest access or otherwise lead
them to specific layouts.

IF (GetAppVer)=web, then go here, othewise go there.

Hi,
my database is automatically published to 192.168.0.100. But no one
outside the house can access this IP address.I'd like to publish the
db on the Internet, without the necessity to keep FM running and
online all the time. Yet the access privileges (certain layouts are
only accessible to certain users) must be maintained.

Practically speaking, I'd like to publish a database containing
information about my pupils for their parents.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thank you very much!
