1) When I add a field to a table, FMP inserts the field and label onto
the relevant layout. On my system it uses an 18 point font and white

obnoxious behavior?
Go into layout mode, but do not select any layout objects. Set whatever
font, colors, etc and they will stick the next time you add a field.
If you close the file and the old behavior comes back, then that tells
me you are only opening as a guest of a served file. Open the file
locally and do what I just described, then put it back on the server and
it should stick.
2) No matter how many times I reset File Options...-}Spelling to NOT
indicate questionable words, as soon as I close and open a file FMP is
indicating questionable words again. Is there a way to permanently
disable this aggravating behavior?
This behavior, too, is indicative that you may be attempting this on a
served file. Open it locally, turn spelling off, and then put it back
on the server and it should stick.
Thank you, sir! Much obliged!
