Roadrunner internet service and their newsgroup service got canceled last
Monday because RR is inept and couldn't care less about their customer
service?
This is my vote RR is awful.

Sounds like my ISP. It took them a week and a half to fix an
Authentication problem that stopped Mac OS 9 dial-up users being able
to log-on ... and most of that was because they simply wouldn't listen
when I was telling them the problem was at their end and had happened
at least twice before. In fact, it was working again for a while, but
the last couple of times I've had to try logging-on multiple times
before it actually works.
Now their newsserver is not picking up new messages in ANY newsgroups
(I'm using a temporary free one). Their solution, again after a week,
is to turn it off and on and then claim it's fixed, when it definitely
is not.
And the name of this "great" ISP ... well, it used to be called "ihug"
but was recently taken over by Vodafone, and service has become even
more hopeless than it was before ... which was bad enough (they simply
deleted all the binary newsgroups because their server couldn't handle
the load and kept crashing!).
I'm seriously planning on changing providers, and wondering whether
it's worth buying an iPhone when they are released here next week, also
via Vodafone. The scary thing is that Vodafone is actually better than
the other main telephone company here: Telecom New Zealand. :o(
