Re: trouble clicking from footer to body

I agree, something unexpected is going on here. You have a script
button overlaying the whole of the body section. Once you have a tab
selected in the footer and click on the script button, then the
correct row is selected BUT the script is not run. If the script does
not run, you do not get the row highlighted. Urgh.

Is this a bug or a feature? I'll leave that to more experienced
members to judge.

I have confirmed your experience that it happens with FileMaker 9
Advanced and FileMaker 9. I did this testing on a Mac.

I did test the file in FileMaker 8 on a PC. The problem did not occur.
So maybe there are grounds for calling it a "bug" that creeped in with
FileMaker 9.

Now, how do you achieve your objective of highlighting a row while
still allowing users to view a tabbed object in the footer? I searched
out an entry on fmforums.com called "Highlight active row in list
view". It does what you want WITHOUT the need for a scripted button in
the body section. I've forwarded the demofile to you.

I do hope this technique meets your needs.

I played with it again this morning. Oddly enough, if I click twice on
the tabs in the footer, the problem doesn't occur. It happens when I
single-click on a tab. If it single click on a tab and click randomly
on the screen, the highlight works fine. It is only when I single
click on a tab then try to change my record in the body section does
the record change (as evidenced by the 5px black bar on the left hand
side) without activating the button to change the highlight color.

I took your advice and made a dummy file, and the same problem
occured. You're more than welcome to look at the dummy file. Where
should I send it to?
