Hi, I've used FM 6 for a long time but then moved away from the whole FMopen URL wil open any document with its associated program.
scene. I'm planning a production db that must be accessible from both Mac
and PC and thought of FM as a natural solution. It's not the database per
se but the connectivity to the db that becomes a problem for both
platforms. One thing that is holding me back is the ability to have
scripts act outside of the FM environment. For example, to create a new
directory or to open a document within a directory in the source
application (eg: open directory "Story" and then open story.doc in MS
Word). Previously in FM 6 the only way to do this was to link up with
AppleScripts, or so I thought.
Has FM scripting advanced to allow this type of interactivity between FM
and it's environment? Can anyone provide examples?
Thanks
pc
Similarly SentEvent may be used
Other things may be accomplished with plug-ins (some of them are free, but
most are for v7 or v8)
Keep well, Ursus
