I'd like to set up a relational database. The previous posts were
helpful but I am still having trouble figuring this out. Below is a
summary - master indicates the place where the info will be stored, and
the * is where it will be "displayed". I do want a relational
database, not a lookup.
LAYOUT 1 - Index of Journalists
Journalist Name (master)
Title
Email Address
Company Name*
Media Type*
Address*
URL*
Company ID
etc
LAYOUT 2 - Index of Companies
Company Name (master)
Media Type (master)
Address (master)
URL (master)
CompanyID
etc
LAYOUT 3 - Index of Articles
Name*
Company*
Article title
etc
The trouble I am having right now is that the way I have linked
everything up, I will create a record in the 1st layout and it will
also show up in the 2nd. Basically I want Layout 2 to house all of the
information on the companies, and then if someone wants to create a
record for a journalist on layout 1, they'll have look up and select a
company (or create a new company). I want to avoid having to re-type
all of the company information.
