multiuser problem Version 3

Can anyone help? We have two computers (Windows XP Pro) accessing our
Filemaker 3.0 Pro database which resides on our company's Windows server.
The program resides on each computer. Single/multiuser is selectable at one
of the computers but in either mode the database can't be opened at the
other computer if it is open at the first computer. Also single/multiuser is
always greyed out on the second computer. I have tried to set full
priviledges in the Windows environment and have tried running FM3 in Windows
95 compatability mode, but it doesn't help.
thanks
Don
