Matt,
Thanks. At least I know it's not just me. I'd rather use a drop-down
list, but I switched to a pop-up so as to be able to use the new value
list trick of hiding the primary field and displaying only the
secondary. Seems you can't have everything.

Same thing happens in Panther..
A popup menu will not open unless you click the item. A drop down list,
on the other hand, will open when you tab in.
No telling why they did it that way, except that in calling it a menu,
maybe they wanted it to behave like an application menu?

Having just upgraded to FM8 I'm really pleased to find that it is now
possible to add just about any control object to the tab order of a
layout. The fly in the ointment seems to be pop-up menus.
When I tab into any field formatted as a pop-up menu, there is no sign
that that field has the focus, and the menu doesn't display. The field
is obviously selected at some level - if I tab again, focus moves to the
next field - but the only way to open the menu is with the mouse. Am I
setting something up wrong, is it a quirk of my system (Mac OS X
v10.4.7, PowerPC G4, FM Pro 8.0v3), or is there really no way to control
pop-ups from the keyboard?
Enlightenment much appreciated.
