In article (Dans l'article) <445ad586$1@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>,I'm a bit confused about this, but here goes. If you have a pc running as a FM webserver, all you will need to do is point it to the gateway and open the ports you have set in your database. You do need to set ports, and not port 80 as that is used by apache.

hi :-)
i would like publish on the web a filemaker pro database which is on a given computer on my local network (i can't connect this computer directly to internet)
is it possible ?
i have apache on an other computer,
i have set
ProxyPass /path/ http://192.168.1.2/
ProxyPassReverse /path/ http://192.168.1.2/
ProxyPassReverse /path/ http://192.168.1.2:80/
but it doesn't work :-(
i see the blue picture and the filemaker logo,
but neither "no database available" nor the list of available databases (depending on which files are opened), neither with icab nor with safari, when i connect via apache,
while i see both with both browsers when i connect directly to the computer
could someone help me please ?
What are you running FM wise? Web Publisher or Filemaker Serve Advanced?
Bignoel
Web Publisher of filemaker pro
(we'll see later if we need more than 5 simultaneous connections, for now we only need to get it available)
In your firewall you need to open port 591. Also in your config section for filemaker on the database concerned you need to turn on sharing and stipulate port 591. Port 591 is an exclusive filemaker webserver port. Try that and let me know who you get on. Bignoel
- i have web publisher of Filemaker pro activated on a computer named F
- i have Apache configured on a computer named A
- our router didn't made the NAT correctly, then i have configured the hosts file of each computer to point on A when using our domain name
i have no firewall on F,
because i hadn't found which port i had to open to share filemaker pro files with the other computers of the local network
(i didn't known this newsgroup at this time)
on both A and F, if we type manually the ip adress of F, it works
and on both A and F, if we use our domain name (so it connects on A), it doesn't work :-(
well, would apache have to do sth with the port 591 ? to use on top of, or instead of, the port 80 ?
Are you trying to see the database inside your lan or are you trying to open it to the internet?
As far as your name server is concerned you need to ascertain if your database pc is registered with your dns or list server so that you can enter the domain directly. I don't have a problem with the url personally, in fact I run win2000 server as a regular lan share not as a domain, far too complicated for what I'm doing so I use ip addresses all the time.
