Having a list limit the choices based on value of another field

Hi there, (I'm new here)
I have Filemaker 7 and and I'm experimenting with the feature of how a
value list can "feed/pull" a value based from another table's field. I
understand the basic concept and it works quite well. However, what I'm
now trying to do is limit what shows in the list based on another
variable in the record.
Here's the situation: In my database I have an "employees" table and a
"projects" table. In the "projects" table I have a field called
"TeamLeader." This field is a drop-down list and pulls the names of all
people in the "employees" database. However, when an individual leaves
the firm, I no longer want their name accessible from the pull-down
list for new entries. I have a field in the "employees" table called
"Status". This field is a basic pull-down list with 2 variables: active
and inactive. Here comes the question... Is there a way to not show the
employee names in the "TeamLeader" list that are marked as "inactive"?
.
