How does one get FMP to perform a search on user input from a
script without a pause at the "Find" step? The search terms
are not constant, the final script will take search terms from
a dialog box.
In the simplified test version, the script does a "Enter Find
Mode", pastes "> 1/1/2006" into date field, and does a "Perform
Find". "Perform without Dialog" is checked. However, the
script pauses until I hit "Enter" or click "Find". I want to
avoid the pause.
I am using FMP 6. Is it time to update?
I'll bet this is simple enough to be in a FAQ, but all I could
find was the reference to "Perform without Dialog". Links to a
more comprehensive FAQ would be great.
Thanks
Take a look at the first step you use in a scripted find:
Enter Find Mode.
There are two checkboxes to set the options. One of them is a
pause, enabled by default.
Matt
On thinking about this more, I have to ask how you have the user
entering the find criteria?
There is no "Find" script step. There is "Perform FInd" and "Enter
Find Mode", each doing something different. Which are you referring
to?
And both script commands have a Pause option, which is often a problem
point for people trying to write Find scripts. They turn off the Pause
for one, but not both commands.
Where do you see a pause option in Perform Find?
Sorry, that was completely wrong - I have no idea what I was thinking
when I posted that, I'll blame the stinking hot weather and long day.
Apologies if it caused any confusion. :o\
