Take a look at the first step you use in a scripted find:

Enter Find Mode.

There are two checkboxes to set the options. One of them is a
pause, enabled by default.

On thinking about this more, I have to ask how you have the user
entering the find criteria?

There is no "Find" script step. There is "Perform FInd" and "Enter
Find Mode", each doing something different. Which are you referring
to?

And both script commands have a Pause option, which is often a problem
point for people trying to write Find scripts. They turn off the Pause
for one, but not both commands.
