Re: Copy/Paste Field (with formatting) to Word

Just tried printing an FM8 report to PDF then copying and pasting from PDF to Word DOC. Bold and italics formatting are copied over so Remi-Noel's tip seems to work.

Generally speaking, no DataBase Program keeps the 'enrichments' - Bold, Italics, ... - when exporting. FMP6 does not keep the enrichments, and I don't think FM7-8 do either.
The following tricks may or may not be useful :
Plugins or tricks :
- diStyler 1.0 from Abstrakt
- Entourage Manipulator 1.1 from Productive Computing Inc.
- PS2PDF 1.9.1 from schubec
I guess you could also 'print' in FMP as a PDF file, and then get another program to go to Word from there.
The advice from Bill should also be worth a try.
Well, all that is not easy.
Why don't you stick to FileMaker alone ?
Often one does printing thru the 'Merge field' function.
Sorry, I can't do more...

Hello,

I've created a calculation field (scientific citations) combining
several fields:

Authors & " " & TextStyleAdd ( Journal ; Italic ) & " " & TextStyleAdd
( Year ; Bold ) & ", " & TextStyleAdd ( Vol. ; Italic ) & ", " & Page

Added a button to copy the field text. Unfortunately when I paste into
my thesis in Word all the formatting is lost. Any way to prevent that
from happening? Any other ways of copying the individually formatted
fields (Authors, Journal, etc.) into Word as one complete citation?

Btw, running Mac OS X (10.4.3), FMP 7, MS Word 2004.

As I've begun writing my thesis any suggestions would be appreciated to
resolve this problem.

Sarge.
