Path issue with Open Remote

I've inherited a FM Pro 6 database - everything seems to work ok
except when I try to open the database remotely. I use "open Remote"
and find the first file i want to open filemaker starts to open it and
then tells me:

Purchases 03.fp5 could not be found and is required to complete this
operation.

The thing is Purchases 03.fp5 is not used by the database anymore the
linked file on the host machine is now Purchases 05.fp6

I can browse to the host and open the Purchases 05.fp6 file but
Filemaker does not remember this setting so every-time I open the
database I have to browse to the correct file, this wouldn't be bad
except there are 8 linked files...

Where is Filemaker getting the old file name from and how do I stop it
looking for it?

.
