Which version of WBTRCALL.DLL do you have? All versions from 5.x
through 9.x can use this file.
If you do have 5.x, then you will need to get a newer engine to provide
ODBC support. Luckily, the Workgroup Engines are only $50. If you
stick with PSQLV8 or older, then you can both read AND write the 5.x
files. If you go with a newer version, then you will have read-only
capabilities, unless you upgrade the entire environment.

With DDF files, these are very likely to be Pervasive/Btrieve

See the white paper on Accessing Btrieve files from ODBC, as well as
Determining your Btrieve Engine Version.
If you have ODBC access, with the newer engines, you'll ALSO have
JDBC access, but much depends on your exact engine version.

Hi,
I have a folder with .DDF and .DTA files.
How can I view these files? (is this a btrieve database?)
and
Can I access them through an api e.g. JDBC??
Thanks,
Chris.

Thanks Bill, those two papers are helpful.
But I'm still a little confused.
Because I have the file WBTRCALL.DLL, I think I must have Btrieve 5.x.
So, to be able to view my btrieve files, must I upgrade the engine to
Pervasive.SQL V8 ?
(I have the DFF files)
