Re: Server configuration PSQL 8.x after installation

My other problem with the PSA is that it does not properly detect all
versions of WBTRV32.DLL aqnd WBTRCALL.DLL. Silly, but thiese are ALSO
critical files.

Hi Mr. Bach,

Thank you for this hint! Your hints are everytime very usefull!

I see, that the old 6.15 running is the point. My only question is:
why does the Pervasive System analyzer not find this old versions?
We know this problem, and so we run the analyzer on every comuter
where we installed PSQL 8 after installation.
It does not find anything (except the 8.x installation), so we
guessed, that everthing is ok. Now I found W32MKDE.EXE in
\winnt\system32\ on the server...

I will delete it as soos as possible.

Thanks again

This is a common result when a Btrieve 6.x Workstation Engine has
been loaded. Check through the system with MSINFO32.EXE and see if
a module called W32MKDE.EXE has been loaded. Even better, search
the entire network (local drives and server drives) for either
W32MKDE.EXE or WBTR32.EXE. If you find any, rename or delete them.

Hi Btrivieans!

we observe the following:

if one installs PSQL 8.x on different Servers (Win 2000 Server,
Win2003) on gets after installation in the controlcenter at
server/access different defaultconfiguration:

one server has ONLY the entry "Accept remote requests" (whicht is
ON), the other has also entrys like

Active Clients
Logical file handles
Maximum open files
and so on

But not enought with this difference:
on one server we got

Active Clients =20
Logical file handles = 100000
Maximum open files = 1000
...
(which looks OK)

BUT on an other (Win2000 Pro)

Active Clients =-65536
Logical file handles = -100663296
Maximum open files = -100663296

(yes: negative numbers!!) And, as already mentioned: this numbers
where set by the installation!

Further; if I try to change (for instance) the value "Active
Clients", it is impossibele, because it says: the number should be
between 2031615 (mimunum!) and 0(maximum!). So if I enter, say
100, I >> got a error message.

Strange ist further, that the access to this server form a remote
cliente works (seemingly) without problems, but if we start the
application the the server itself (which is usually possible), we
got >> btreive errors on open-commands already.

Do you know, what is wrong and / or what we do false?

Thanks in advance for any hint or comment.

Yours
