Free. There is a textbook available.Textbook is ok, but first I would suggest reading the manuals. They
are really great.
Problem: THIS IS PROLOG.This is not that big problem as ECLiPSe provides some syntactic sugars like loops, structures, arrays that makes developing software much easier then in a pure prolog. I use it for developing software for
my company and it is really nice.
Can be interfaced from Java, no problem.ECLiPSe provides bindings to C/C++, Java and TclTk. Through RPC mechanism
any language could be used.
1. SICStus Prolog. Very solid. I am using SICStus for commercialPrologBeans that are in SICStus are very low-level and could be easily implemented for ECLiPSe. Basically the interface are simple "evals".
development. Java interface through PrologBeans package.
If I am wrong (regarding SiCStus) I would be grateful for any comments :).

A.L. and Wit,
Thanks for all the input. I will take a close look at Eclipse when I get the chance (although this will cause me endless confusion, since I use the "other" Eclipse for Java development). If I have to learn some Prolog to use Eclipse, I can tolerate that in exchange for performance.
Best regards,
Paul
