Is that because it doesn't actually work?

I don't get you trolls, like it's an obvious gag, so why do you keep
perpetuating this nonsense?

I think the most likely explanation is incompetence. Many of those
random-compression-posters probably believe in their algorithms and
this belief is sometimes so strong that they think they don't need any
testing (decompressor).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dunning-Kruger_effecthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlon%27s_razor

Interesting articles. I don't disagree that that's possible. But
since it's so trivial to disprove their claims (which many of done
here over the years) you'd think they'd open their eyes to it.

Which is why I attribute it to malice. EVEN IF they still think
they're right, they shouldn't in face of the abundance of evidence/
proof to the contrary. It's a case of "they ought to know better."
So I wouldn't let them off the hook even if they just happen to not
know better.

Point is, if I walked into my lab here, claimed something for which I
couldn't prove, and was then easily disproven, I would not only be
expected to readjust my thinking, but if I was being an ass about my
claims I'd have to make a beer store run to return normalcy to the
lab. :-)
