You'd think that a "darker" plant would be more energy efficient,
right? After all, the darker the leaf, the more light it is absorbing
and hopefully using?
It's an equilibrium problem: you want it to be _transparent_ enough
so that light passes through the leaf and reaches the innermost layers,
yet opaque enough so that it does capture light in sufficient quantity.
