Plants are green because they *don't* absorb green/yellow light, they
absorb red and blue light. Plants without purple leaves are the ones
that absorb green and yellow light. Purple plants at one time in the

That's incredible. I didn't know this!

You'd think that a "darker" plant would be more energy efficient,
right? After all, the darker the leaf, the more light it is absorbing
and hopefully using?

Still, I'd really like to know what species were purple before? And at
what time period? And what chemistry they used?

Was it copper and iron based chemistry? (blue for copper and red for
iron).

Any handy pointers to articles with specifics :)
