Based on email discussions I had with them a few years ago, at least
at that time they were using zlib in Acrobat, albeit an internally
modified version. I can't say for sure what they use today.

For your purpose, you would need to determine the answer empirically.
Even if they are basing their code on zlib, they could have modified
it enough that the deflate output might not always match.
