Erpy, in that article they demonstrate their compression scheme on
normal 8-bit/channel normal dynamic range images, for normal dynamic
range display. While their research is not aimed towards compressing
normal LDR images, I thought their article was worth mentioning for its
information on color science, and the surprising performance of
3-bit/channel bit depth in their compression scheme.
