does anyone know (or has a reference) about which of these lossless
data compression algorithms are available on redhat linux?
Not that I'm using any of them (tar+bz2 works just fine), but a quick
search reveals the following:
7ZIPthere seems to be a quick port to UNIX/Linux at
http://sourceforge.net/projects/p7zip/
ACE 2.0there is a Linux unace version at
http://www.winace.com/files/linunace25.tgz
CAB 1.3unlikely
RARthere are many unrar version at http://www.rarlab.com/rar_add.htm and
even a full beta at http://www.rarlab.com/rar/rarlinux-3.6.b4.tar.gz
stuffItyes, there exists a Linux version, see
http://www.stuffit.com/unix/index.html
ZIPhow about http://www.info-zip.org?
