If idiots don't get slapped, they won't learn not to be idiots. It
normally only takes a few slaps.

In my experience, slapping idiots rarely makes someone smarter. Only
quieter. You may feel that you've improved the world but all you've
done is made the idiot someone else's problem.

If it was that easy to unlearn idiocy, there wouldn't be so many of
them.
