this reminds me of one time in the past where I was running a computer which
had a problem that if the cpu load was 100% for more than short bursts of
time, the cpu would overheat and the system would crash...
my approach had been typically to make my apps sleep a certain amount of the
time in order to keep cpu load down...
but this did serve, eg, to make gaming (and watching anime) damn near
impossible on that computer, largely because these tasks do tend to run the
cpu at high load, resulting in frequent crashing and rebooting...
now, I have a laptop with a different issue, namely, when the cpu load is
100%, it uses more power, it heats up a lot more, and cooling fans end up
running continuously (making it louder, but similar also goes for using the
cd drive...).
other issues may exist for why one may not want to run their cpu at 100%
load...
.
