Custom hatch - express tools>superhatch

Can anyone help please. In Acad 2000 I used superhatch to insert my own
hatch designs, however that facility doesn't seem available in Acad 2002 and
the explanations about pat files leaves me a little confused. Can someone
walk me through the procedure or tell me how I might achieve this please.
