As I said in my intial post, I've not used one for "work", I speak only of
what I've heard/read.

Well, every single thing I've ever read about LCDs mentions the slow latency
times and how that could/would affect 3D work. If the person is not going
to be doing any 3D work, gaming, video editing, photo editing, etc. then
this really won't effect them. If they are, then I'd suggest making sure
that you can test the LCD on a system simulair to what it will be used on,
ideally running the same software as will be used. If the LCD retailer has
a decent return policy then that would be ideal. Then you could try it out
for a couple of days on your computer running your software while doing your
work on it.

Ah, but my desk is "|_" shaped with the monitor in the middle (i.e. corner).
Visiting clients sit on the outside of the "|" and I need the monitor depth
to hide the goodies. With an LCD they would be able to see "past" the
monitor to my stash! Of course, this should all be a moot point since I
work out of my house and could keep the snacks in the kitchen, but then I'm
too lazy..... Fortunately, I'm busy as hell and keeping the clients away
isn't really a possibility.....
