Hi
I am confused with the difference between MIPS and RISC
architecture. Are they the same ?
RICS is the name given to the whole genré of this style of computers.
MIPS is an architecture from this genré that began as research at
Stanford, and then spawned a company to design and manufacture
industrial strength version of the acedemic architecture.
The first generation (looseley) consisted of MIPS, SPARC, Motorola
Mc88000, IBM ??, and Intergraph Clipper.
The second generation added HP PA-RISC, ALPHA, IBM Power, and mabe a
couple more.
