Handbook of Research on Soft Computing Applications for Database
Technologies:
Techniques and Issues
A book edited by K.Anbumani, Karunya University, Coimbatore,
Tamilnadu, India and
R.Nedunchezhian, Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (Autonomous),
Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India
Introduction
Database technology is an inseparable area of IT which continuously
experiences many drastic changes through evolution. Now-a-days, the
historical data of an organization residing in a data source is being
used to make strategic decisions through data mining tasks. Due to the
technological development, the nature of the data source and the
amount of data are dynamic. Data is pouring in an unimaginable way,
and a large amount of work will be needed to tackle the situation
effortlessly. Consequently, data source design, information retrieval,
and mining are potential research areas in database technology.
While mining or accessing a particular data source for information, it
is vital to maintain the privacy and secrecy of sensitive information.
Any leak in information privacy may lead to an unbearable material
loss. As such, an effective mechanism must be developed for preserving
the sensitive information without affecting the meaning of data
access. This area currently presents researchers with the opportunity
to contribute novel ideas, techniques, methods, and research to the
field of database technologies.
The Handbook of Research on Soft Computing Applications for Database
Technologies: Techniques and Issues will discuss database technology
and its practical difficulties, such as information retrieval and
preserving information privacy. Furthermore, the book will present the
role of soft computing in the field database technology with an aim to
improve the efficiency of database technologies.
Objective of the Book
A concise, comprehensive, and clear report on potential research areas
on database technologies will be a stepping stone for the emerging
researchers, practioners, and graduate students. The handbook is
planned to encompass the most preferred and most practiced areas of IT
such as Database Technologies, Soft Computing, and Information Privacy
and Security.
Target Audience
Database Researchers, Practitioners, and graduate students will be the
audience of this book. The audience will gain an in-depth knowledge in
the proposed topics. They will be introduced and directed to various
research areas.
