I've worked with hexapods before and they really suck a LOT of power.
I used 4 double AAs to run the 12 servos and a separate 9 V to run the
micro controller. The batteries had to be changed frequently and the
operational time of the robot was not great.
If it is a power problem try a AC to DC converter to the run the
servos.
There really is no way around the power problem other than using a
more efficient system (i.e. lighter robot, better batteries etc)
