First Call for Papers: Workshop on Business Intelligence BI 2007
part of the 13th Portuguese Conference on
Artificial Intelligence
Guimaraes, Portugal, 3-7 December 2007

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Scope:
Nowadays, business organizations are increasingly moving towards
decision-making processes that are based on information. Business
Intelligence (BI) represents applications, technologies and methods to
enhance managerial decision making in public and corporate enterprises
from operational to strategic level. Artificial Intelligence (AI)
includes several computational technologies that may be useful to
improve BI (e.g. Data Mining, Evolutionary Computation, Neural
Computing and Intelligent Agents). The aim of this workshop is to
gather the latest research on BI using AI and promote an open
discussion on the following topics of interest (but not limited to):

- Methodologies, Architectures or Computational Tools for BI
- BI Applications: Data Mining, Optimization, Business Forecasting &
Demand Planning, Decision Support Systems, Adaptive BI, Competitive
Intelligence, Examples of real-world applications (in Marketing,
Sales, Production, Internal Operations or others)
- AI techniques applied to BI: Data Mining & Machine Learning (Neural
Networks, Support Vector Machines, Decision Trees, Random
Forests, ...), Evolutionary Computation (Genetic Algorithms,
Evolutionary Strategies, Swarm Intelligence, Artificial Immune
Systems, ...) and other AI techniques (Intelligent Agents, Fuzzy
Logic, ...)
- Future trends and challenges for BI
- In particular, papers that describe experience and lessons learned
from BI projects and/or present business and organizational impacts
using AI technologies, are welcome.

Important Dates:
- Submission Deadline: 30.June.2007
- Notification of acceptance: 28.July.2007
- BI Workshop and EPIA 2007 : 3-7.December.2007

Paper Submission:
Submissions must follow the guidelines specified in the conference
site. Authors should submit full papers with a maximum of 12 pages.
Submission is double blind. Thus, authors must remove their names from
the submitted papers and should take reasonable care not to indirectly
disclose their identity. The Springer LNCS format must be used
(instructions in http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html).

A selection of the workshop accepted full papers will be published by
Springer in the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence sub-series of
LNCS. All accepted papers not published in the Springer proceedings
will be published in Local Workshop Proceedings, in hard copy, in CD-
ROM and in the web.

Paper submissions will be made in PDF format, through the submission
system available via the EPIA 2007 website
