According to Plato, we do exist in a simulation: our material world is a Shadow of Reality. But by his reasoning, Reality is a shadow of Reality^2, and so on. By the same reasoning, there would be a shadow of our sensory world, a Shadow^-1. IOW, Plato's metaphysics implies an infinite regress, in both directions. But he claims that Shadow <--> Reality is an exhaustive description of all-that-is. So his metaphysics is fallacious.
Ah, the "infinite regress" argument. I make simulated universes
in my computer. Just becuse they exist under simulation, it doesn't
mean that their parent universe is simulated. Obviously, the supposed
simulation regress bottoms out at some point. It's the same with
Plato's shadows: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allegory_of_the_cave
