of the term as in anyway revealing anything except

I see the implication that the "sense of self" or "ego" can be shaped. IOW, it should change over time. In fact, this is exactly what happens AFAICT: it seems to me that any adult looking at a picture of him or herself as child would have some trouble remembering what it was like to be that child. IOW, the "1st person point of view" is shaped by a person's history, just as any other behaviour is shaped.
