Imagine .. Think .. and tell us !!
I've already found one that's close enough to perfect, considering the
alternatives: an Apple running OSX. The only improvements I'd really
like to see are longer battery run-time and a soft shatterproof
construction that could be folded or rolled up and stuffed into a
pocket.
In case you're thinking of something along the lines of a computer
that can think and engage in intelligent conversation, I'll take a
pass. First, it's not going to happen anytime soon and when it does
the amount of computational power required will dwarf that required by
existing applications such as the standard word processors and
spreadsheets, which for the most part are already more powerful than
anything I'll ever need. Second, why would I need a conversational
computer anyway? Are humans getting scarce?
Yeah - but you can unplug or walk away from a computer you are having a
conversation with, without getting arrested or making the computer sad,
respectively!
;^))
Arrested??? And where do you live?
Anyway, ISTM that any machine capable of supporting reasonably
interesting conversation would have comparably "interesting" emotional
responses too.
Even if true, interesting does not mean genuine though. No hormonal milieu
means simulation only.
