EXTENDED DEADLINE; K-CAP 2007 WORKSHOP: Knowledge Capture and Constraint Programming (KCCP-07)

In response to requests it has been decided to EXTEND the deadline for
submitting papers to MONDAY JULY 23th.

CALL FOR PAPERS

K-CAP 2007 WORKSHOP:
Knowledge Capture and Constraint Programming (KCCP-07)

October 28, 2007
Whistler, BC, Canada

The workshop is held in conjunction with The Fourth International
Conference
on Knowledge Capture, (KCAP 2007) http://www.csd.abdn.ac.uk/kcap07/index.php

Constraint programming (CP) has been successfully applied to many
real-
world problems, including scheduling, planning, resource allocation
and
decision support. However, modeling a problem within the CP framework
requires significant expertise, and humans often find it difficult to
articulate their constraints. Few tools have been built to this point
that
address knowledge acquisition and maintenance for CP systems. At the
same
time, the CP approach offers techniques and ideas that may benefit the
knowledge capture community. For example, consistency algorithms from
CP can
be used to remove or downplay user options that are inconsistent with
existing knowledge.

The workshop on Knowledge Capture and Constraint Programming will
bring
together researchers and application developers from the constraint
programming and knowledge capture communities. Its goal is to promote
the
exchange of knowledge and ideas, and to highlight possible future
challenges
for interactive knowledge acquisition and maintenance. The intention
is to
promote multidisciplinary research that will eventually be beneficial
for
both the constraint programming and knowledge capture communities.

The workshop solicits contributions on topics including, but not
limited to:

* Knowledge capture for constraint programming: acquiring, modeling,
and
debugging constraints and heuristics for CP and related tasks.
Interactive approaches.

* Constraint programming for knowledge capture: applying constraint-
based
modeling, search and inference methods to knowledge capture problems.

SUBMISSIONS:

We invite short papers, limited to 10 pages, which describe ongoing
work or
new ideas within the scope of the workshop. Papers may also be in the
form
of a position statement, indicating a writer's particular opinion on a
subject related to the workshop.
Submission procedure: Please email submissions, in PDF format only, to
tnordlan ...@xxxxxxxxx before 15th July (2007).

Submission format: Please use this Word template, which is based on
the
official ACM templates for proceedings. In accordance with
requirements of
the ACM digital library, please include categories and subject
descriptors
that best describe your submission. The hierarchy of descriptors can
be
found here. You may include optional keywords. Note that reviewer
assignments will be based on the contents of the abstract, as well as
these
descriptors and keywords. Accepted papers will be published in the K-
CAP
2007 workshop proceedings.
