Because it is not behaving as if it has an experience. Again
what is the point of the words "having an experience" if you
don't explain what you mean by that?

curt:
Have you explained what you believe "having an experience"
behavior is? I don't remember you explaining it.

There is no explanation I know of. Certainly I haven't seen
it explained in terms of the natural consequence of atoms
interacting with each other. You assume it must be because
you see us as nothing but reaction machines like reacting
atoms. You don't show it must be as a consequence of what we
know about atoms only that we are made of interacting atoms
and have experiences thus conclude all interacting atoms
must have experiences.

Why they have behaviors we call experiences is left unexplained.

However I am happy to take the physicalist view as far as
it can go including the idea that an AND gate shows awareness
of two possible pattern groups by going high for one group
and low for the others.

I understand how an AND gate works so I am happy to talk
about AND gates and how they behave as opposed to the
brain, the workings of which escape me.

When is comes to machines that can "see" light such as light
seeking behaviour in a toy robot or one that can "see" the
printed page such as an optical character reader we can be
clear what we mean by "seeing" in these cases.
