although these refer to use of methods which hypothetically
only act in the present? and what if you wanted to get a
message from the future to the past then?

Some instances are things like animals and some people are
sensitive to the their environment, eg before an earthquake
some animals begin to leave the area, before a landslide
they became very unsettled, so I guess that some vibrations
were felt before a disaster occuring. That would make
them in some manner, attuned, to their surroundings,
to have a kind of predictive ability. So now we have
sensitive modern equipments that monitor the vibration and
changes in a natural surrounding to warn of potential disaster,
and we no longer need Great Aunt Flo to warn us that its
going to rain because her 'knee joint is playing up again',
read a weather report and complain when storm ants gather,
We have machines and sensitive equiptment designed to
'predict' by statistical analysis, to save a life, and
they don't in any way send a message back from the future
to warn us of a particular inevitability.

A second problem may be how to make a message understood,
and if that was solved,
a third question is 'and does it answer you back?'
