Agreement on the nature of determinism, assuming there
was an agreement, rather than any personal support.
If there was/is an agreement (I think there was/is) then I'm
not sure we should distinguish between "nature of determinism"
and "personal support"? I'm not at all sure about this, but why
would it matter one way or the other?
I meant to imply it might be your view, not Truth as such.
OK and mine was just to clarify the distinction between truth
and predictability.
What determines the laws of physics? And in turn what
determines "what determines the laws of physics"?
I don't know on both accounts...
I guess it depends on who you ask and why? But, as long
as the subject is philosophy of mind I don't think it's a good
idea to think of "mind" as something separate from physics
(or some set of laws anyway, even if those laws include fuzzy
Concepts such as "free will" or whatever).
Can we say that some things "just are" without any causes?
Sure! I would go as far as to say we must do that. We should just
do it as little as we must.
