Re: High Tech ... Low Life

When I read things like this I think of the
suggestion that if God didn't exist we would
have to invent him.
"if God didn't exist..." Does that mean you believe in God?
And having invented him
give him the beliefs and attributes *we*
think he would have. So if AI doesn't exist
we will have to do the same for AI.
The personifying of God - therefore the personifying of AI -
point taken.
This is not about a super computer but about
the authors beliefs spoken by his imaginary
super computer.
That's a given.
A device to give credence
to a lot of current imaginings about the
possible future.
"Current imaginings..."? Like the possibility of AI serving as
a catalyst in a steady growing state universe? Or, an AI wanting
absolute dominion over its mortality and thus trying to create a larger
universe to serve that purpose? Perhaps I'm not as well read as you
- could you please point out to me the documents, books, or postings
that already allude to such things. Or is it possible that you've
read something truly original and failed to recognize such? - perhaps
because of my sophomoric writing - no doubt.
To what extents this kind of science fiction
adds to our understanding of human psychology
I am not sure but I kind of suspect it will
turn out to be as pointless as the science
fiction of the 50's with the mad professor,
the handsome hero and beautiful girlfriend.
Perhaps your lack of objectivity is adding much more to our
understanding of psychology.
It offers no insight into AI or what that
might mean.
Is this not, 'comp. ai. phylosophy'? Perhaps this forum is more
concerned with whether AI can even exist. If so, than perhaps I'm in
the wrong forum since I'm assuming that it is possible.
