The limits of human understanding are proscribed by
our physiology....or do I just mean comprehension?

I think there's a point where determinsim and freewill are the
just the same (but I won't debate that as I prefer to err on the
side of freewill). If you endow your machine with a mind of its own,
ie. by engaging in real-time interactions that generate a belief
that the machine has a self reflective consciousness,
doesn't it follow that the machine also has a conscience and soul?
If you give anything house room, it'll have some effect on you.
(the hours we spend choosing wallpaper for instance must be proof
of this) No matter how carefully you plan & design, natural unforseen
events will affect the outcome of your processing. Are the uncracked
formulas of Chaos generating natural unforseen events evidence
of an external consciousness?
How would you go about creating an AI with its own conscience?
:)
