Dunno Curt, I don't think we'll ever solve the mystery of the soul - - there's still so much to learn in physics, ...
Yeah, there's still plenty of places for the cuase of the human soul to hide in physcis. It might be something we have not yet discovered, and it might be something that will take another 10,000 years to uncover. It might be something which is impossible for us to understand from within this universe we exist in.
But, all the data we have about the soul can currently be explained as nothing more than the actions of a complex machine (the human body). And it's clear that we are far down the road to completely understanding the human body and also very far down the road on building machines which work in ways like the human body (computers/robots/etc). If the soul is nothing but the action of a body, then it's highly likely what we will master it, and duplicate it, in short order (relative to how long man has been around). That's what most of us working on AI are betting on. But until we do master the working of the human body and duplicate its important behavior functions in machines of our own design, we won't know if this guess about the soul is correct. We just have to keep pusing forward and following the clues and see where it leads.
Soul = transferable part of human software.
There is no reason to hide it in any physics, because under such definition it is hardware independent.
